Secretary to Chief Executive Officer provides administrative support in a variety of functions to the Chief Executive Officer that are focused on increasing the efficiency of the executive. Reviews, prioritizes, directs and delegates a wide variety of complex and confidential requests that are presented to the executive for consideration. Being a Secretary to Chief Executive Officer summarizes, prioritizes, and researches information into a concise and usable format for the executive to review. Responds to or routes priority or confidential inquiries from external or internal sources with correspondence or other messaging on behalf of the executive. Additionally, Secretary to Chief Executive Officer creates or directs creation of reports, charts, budgets and other presentation materials for the executive. Coordinates high level projects, travel arrangements, and meetings. May plan and schedule work and direct other staff to deliver support. Has a broad knowledge and understanding of the company's operations and business objectives. Requires an associate degree or its equivalent. Typically reports to the CEO. The Secretary to Chief Executive Officer contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature.     What you will be doing:
    • Provide utilization review and approval of off-site consultations and assist in ensuring a consistent level of care throughout the system.  An excellent knowledge of standards of care, pharmaceutical formularies, medical ethics, and medical necessity are critical for this position.  Additional duties will included potential assistance with technical aspects of contract negotiations with health care entities (i.e. hospitals, group practices, consultants, etc.), and performance reviews of physicians, dentists, and Health Practitioner II’s (contract or State employees).  Knowledge of risk-management and experience with medical legal issues is highly desirable.   Advice in the updating and development of departmental health care policies and procedures is an important component of this position.
    • Travels in-state for facility site visits (day trips).
    • Evaluates, diagnoses, and treats illnesses or injuries referred to the physician.
    • Provides clinical supervision of  nurse practitioners and physician assistants.
    • Shares back up call (phone only) with other state-wide physicians.

    The Alaska Department of Corrections is looking for a real practicing medicine physician to join the Health and Rehabilitation Services based out of the downtown beautiful Anchorage, Alaska.     Who we are looking for:
    We are looking for a Chief Medical Officer who has an interest in working with an underserved population and enjoys working with a team. To provide medical administrative support to the Health Care Administrator in the provision of service to inmates in custody of the Alaska Department of Corrections, and also provides direct medical services.  This position requires Board Eligibility in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.   Board Certification is preferred.   Correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required.  An unrestricted Alaska Medical license, active unrestricted DEA license for controlled substances is required at time of job commencement.  A criminal background check is mandatory prior to final approval. EHR use daily and computer skills are required. Basic Life Support Certificate and possess an unrestricted DEA number to prescribe Schedule II, III, IV, and V drugs.    Eligibility to practice medicine in the state of Alaska. REQUIRED DOCUMENTS

    • List of three references including current supervisor and contact information.
    ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

    PREA NOTIFICATION
    The Department of Corrections follows and maintains federal and state requirements standards including, but not limited to, Prison Rape Elimination Act (PREA) standards which apply to all public and private institutions that house adult or juvenile offenders. PREA standards preclude the department from hiring or promoting anyone who has engaged in, or been convicted of any conduct which would violate PREA standards related to sexual assault including:
    • Sexual abuse in a prison, jail, lockup, community confinement facility, juvenile facility, or other institution;
    • Convicted of engaging or attempting to engage in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable to consent or refuse; or
    • Has been civilly or administratively adjudicated to have engaged in the activity described above.

    CRIMINAL HISTORY CHECKS/APSIN/ACOMS
    Please be aware – this position requires the use of the Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN)/Alaska Corrections Offender Management System (ACOMS).  A security clearance issued by the Department of Public Safety (DPS) is necessary to use APSIN/ACOMS.  DPS will deny security clearance for any applicant who has been convicted of a felony or misdemeanor in this state or another jurisdiction, or who may be a fugitive from justice.  Additionally, security clearance will be withdrawn if DPS discovers that material information was falsified or omitted at the time of the initial application for security clearance.
