This position is a part of the Injury Prevention Team at the Department of Health in the Division of Emergency Preparedness, Response and Injury Prevention and contributes to Vermont's goal to increase and sustain the capacity of a coordinated statewide public health approach to suicide prevention. This will involve working closely with other state departments, including the Department of Mental Health, along with many other community partners.

The Youth Suicide Prevention Coordinator is responsible for overseeing the implementation of evidence-based suicide prevention strategies and programming in Vermont regions with the highest youth suicide risk burden and will support improved screening, treatment and support infrastructure among youth and family organizations. This position is a great opportunity for a candidate with experience bringing together interdisciplinary teams and systems improvement, grant management as well as a passion for mental health, public health, and suicide prevention.

This position, Public Health Programs Administrator: General - Limited Service (Job Requisition #49981), is open to all State employees and external applicants. AHS BACKGROUND CHECKS: Candidates must pass any level of background investigation applicable to the position. Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting, but require frequent travel to community sites, for which private means of transportation must be available. Public speaking and attendance at public meetings may be required. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.

Bachelor's degree AND four (4) years or more of professional level experience in administration, planning, or supervision in a public health, health care or human services field. Including two (2) years of experience in public health.

OR

Master's degree in public health, public administration or a health field AND two (2) years or more of professional level experience in administration, planning, or supervision in a public health, health care or human services field.
