Shipping Specialist prepares shipping documentation and processes orders. Coordinates the preparation and organization of bills of lading, packing slips, invoices, and required export licenses or compliance documents. Being a Shipping Specialist utilizes enterprise resource planning (ERP) or other systems to record and track all shipping transactions. Troubleshoots shipping delays or changes with carriers and communicates to customers. Additionally, Shipping Specialist ensures shipping protocols and documentation meet required regulatory requirements for hazardous materials (DOT/HAZMAT) or special handling. Investigates and resolves shipping non-conformance. Requires a high school diploma. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Shipping Specialist works under moderate supervision. - Ensure all shipping documents and functions are completed accurately and on time.
- Assess warehouse inventory and advise repair schedule of parts needed.
- Assess field technician inventories and restock parts as needed.
- Prepare bills of laden for outbound and shipments.
- Check that orders are complete and the proper labels and paperwork have been applied.
- Verify and record outbound shipments; and distribute or scan documents to the appropriate department(s).
- Maintain good workplace safety and security processes and procedures.
- Maintain department files, routine correspondence with small parcel and LTL freight carriers.
- May be assigned to assist with physical inventories and cycle counting.
- May be assigned to perform general warehouse housekeeping and light maintenance.
- May be assigned to perform general warehouse duties, assembly and/or order- filler duties, as needed.
Other duties may be assigned.QUALIFICATIONSTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCEHigh school diploma or general education degree (GED); or two to three years related experience.REASONING ABILITYAbility to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving variables in standardized situations.
