TITLE: Shuttle Driver
TYPE OF JOB: Weekends – May through August

SUMMARY OF POSITION:
DUTIES:
1. Check when shuttles are scheduled so that, if necessary, a trailer can be configured in
time with the correct assortment of boats.
2. Load the van with the appropriate number and sizes of PFDs and paddles.
3. Make sure that the vehicle, trailer, boats, PFDs, paddles, first aid kit, rescue gear and
other necessary gear are scheduled, clean and in good working condition.
4. Transport people and gear to the designated launch site.
5. Organize the unloading of boats with assistance from guests.
6. Provide a pre-trip briefing to include information on what to look for downriver in terms of
portages or hazards and when to arrive at the take-out. Place an emphasis on safety
and what to do in case of an emergency. Conclude the pre-trip briefing by providing
participants with an opportunity to withdraw from the activity.
7. Assist guests with launching from the put-in.
8. At the take-out, assist guests with landing, getting out of their boats and carrying boats
and gear to the trailer.
9. Organize the loading of boats and gear with assistance from guests.
10. Transport people and gear back to the main office.
11. Return paddles and PFDs to the office for cleaning.
12. Return the trailer to the boat storage yard and hose down the boats.
13. Clean out the van, help put away cleaned PFD and paddles, return first aid kit and rescue
gear to the office, and if necessary, fill up the gas tank.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
1. Must be at least twenty-one years of age with a current driver's license, excellent and
safe driving skills and ability to tow and back-up a trailer are required.
2. Current certification in First Aid & CPR or equivalent is required.
3. Paddling and river rescue experience a plus.
4. Personal qualities must include enthusiasm, good organizational skills, honesty and good
interpersonal skills.
5. Concern for and commitment to conservation.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $13.00 - $15.00 per hour
