Simulation Lab Coordinator

The successful candidate must demonstrate 1) the ability to effectively use and maintain technology devices required within the lab environment, 2) demonstrate complex communication and problem solving to maintain positive working relationships with a variety of contacts inside and outside of the University, and 3) operate from a solid understanding of nursing education and practice, combined with knowledge of technology use and inventory control.

    Specific Job Duties (Essential Functions and Responsibilities)

    Major responsibilities include:

    •   Promote and ensure a safe laboratory environment.
    • Coordinate lab and simulation activities in conjunction with faculty.
    • Assist with set up and cleanup of simulation activities.
    • Maintain the skills lab and simulation lab environment including stocking supplies and keeping the learning environment clean and free of clutter.
    • Maintain current inventory of skills and simulation labs. 
    • Create needed moulage for simulations (blood, urine, etc.).
    • Safe Disposal of Sharps according to OSHA regulations.
    • Management of technology during simulation activities.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues efficiently.
    •  Maintain and upgrade simulation laboratory equipment.
    • Management of the procurement and installation of equipment.
    • Network with multiple simulation/technology vendors.
    • Create, maintain, and evaluate simulation policies and procedures.
    • Provide management of laboratory inventory.
    • Management of simulation laboratory budget in conjunction with School of Nursing Director. 
    • Investigation of grants and other financial support.
    • Attend workshops and conferences surrounding simulation technology.
    • Assist with Public Relation activities – lab tours, community simulation   projects, recruiting/organizing volunteers, etc.
    • Assist in training faculty with equipment and technology as well as simulation methodology.
    • Provide correspondence, reports, promotional materials, and other documents as necessary.
    • Spokesperson and promotor of simulation.
    • Contact person for any technology related questions

    Qualifications:

    • Minimum qualifications at the time of appointment must include the following: Bachelor’s Degree preferred or equivalent experience in a related field 
    • Information Technology experience in a related field.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoints) Adobe Pro and Google Workspace
    • Demonstrates ability to work collaboratively with sensitivity and tact, and be sensitive to dynamics of difference in race, gender, disability, religion, sexual orientation, national origin and other types of cultural difference.
    • Detail-oriented and demonstrates excellent organization skills.
    • Self-motivated individual who thrive in meeting deadlines and takes initiative in their work.
    • Ability to advance the university’s commitment to diversity and multiculturalism among the university’s faculty, staff, students, research, teaching and community outreach with relevant programs, goals and activities.
    • Ability to treat others with respect, civility, and courtesy and to work honestly, effectively, and collegiality with employees, students, and the community.  This includes the ability to use appropriate conflict management skills to effectively manage any disagreement that might arise or to bring the disagreement to management for assistance in productive resolution when the situation requires.

    Salary and Benefits:

    The salary range for this position is $38,412-$43,692. This position is a .83 FTE with full benefits and reduced hours in June and July.   In addition to salary, Adams State University offers a competitive benefits program including medical, dental, vision, disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, life insurance, and retirement savings plans.
