Tax Accountant jobs in Iowa City, IA

Responsibilities:

• Prepares local, state, and federal tax returns.
• Prepares, maintains, and analyzes tax records and reports, subject to review.
• Researches basic tax issues and documents findings.
• Uses computer systems and/or reporting tools to input, retrieve, or summarize tax information.
• May rotate between different tax specialty groups within the tax department.
• Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, performs assigned tasks.
• Other duties as assigned based on divisional needs.
• Confirms with and abides by all regulations, policies, work procedures, instruction and all safety rules.
• Exhibits regular, reliable, punctual and predictable attendance.

Qualifications:

• Bachelors degree in accounting or equivalent work experience.
• Generally 0-2 years of professional experience in tax, accounting, or comparable area.
• Requires working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), on-line research software (RIA, Bloomberg), and applicable tax and/or accounting software systems.
• Fundamental knowledge of tax accounting concepts, practices and procedures.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Must be detail-oriented.
• Solid planning and organizational skills, including the ability to perform multiple assignments.
