Teacher Elementary School prepares lesson plans and instructs students in an assigned elementary school. Develops and implements grade appropriate course work, activities, and assessments to meet the academic, developmental, and social needs of children in K-5 classroom setting. Being a Teacher Elementary School monitors and guides classroom behavior. Resolves classroom issues and conflicts. Additionally, Teacher Elementary School evaluates and monitors student's performance and progress. Participates in development and implementation of Individual Education Plans for specific students. May participate in implementing special programs for students. May supervise teaching assistants. Requires a bachelor's degree. May require state-specific teaching license. Typically requires Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Typically reports to a principal. The Teacher Elementary School occasionally directed in several aspects of the work.     EXECUTIVE SUMMARY:

    The Classroom Teacher will be responsible for meeting the academic, physical, and socio-emotional needs of the children, to enhance student learning, promote the overall efficiency of the school system, and maximize the educational opportunities available to each child. Utilization of developmentally appropriate practices is an expectation. The teacher will create an environment that facilitates learning, personal growth, and care. The teacher is expected to establish positive working relationships with all staff members as well as parents.


    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND FUNCTIONS: 1. Meets eight Iowa Teaching Standards and 42 criteria on a consistent basis.

    1. Establish and maintain standards of child behavior to create a safe and orderly, teaching and learning environment.
    2. Create a learning environment based on current and appropriate research.
    3. Provide whole group, small-group, and individual instruction designed to meet the individual needs of children.
    4. Develop daily and long-range lesson plans to provide whole group, small group, and individual student experiences appropriate to the needs of each child.
    5. Teach the district approved curriculum using district adopted instructional materials.
    6. Implement developmentally appropriate instructional practices and approaches.
    7. Evaluate children's intellectual and social growth, keep appropriate records and assist in preparing progress reports.
    8. Provide immediate and specific feedback to students regarding their academic progress.
    9. Communicate with parents through conferences and other means to discuss a child's development and interpret the school program.
    10. Maintain professional competence through participation in building and district staff development activities.
    11. Participate in team and building meetings as well as projects and parent related activities.
    12. Establish and maintain a professional working relationship with support staff.
    13. Supervise students in out-of-class activities during the assigned work-day.
    14. Fulfill conditions in the negotiated agreement.
    15. Assume other duties as assigned.
