Technical Librarian develops and maintains a collection of technical information and provides research and reference support to researchers, scientists, and engineers. Builds an extensive network of technical information resources and contacts from various sources like government agencies, universities, professional and industry associations to obtain the required information. Being a Technical Librarian communicates with researchers to develop and maintain a broad knowledge and understanding of the organization's relevant topics and effectively target technical publications as information sources. Creates abstracts, bibliographies, and metadata to classify the information. Additionally, Technical Librarian obtains translations of literature as needed. Supports and maintains the library's technology infrastructure and information retrieval tools. Typically requires a master's degree in library science. Typically reports to a manager. The Technical Librarian work is closely managed. Works on projects/matters of limited complexity in a support role. To be a Technical Librarian typically requires 0-2 years of related experience. Position Responsibilities:
Documentation Creation:- Develop comprehensive and user-friendly documentation, including user manuals,
installation guides, specifications, release notes, and troubleshooting documentation.- Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather information and ensure the
accuracy of technical content.Content Maintenance:- Regularly update and revise existing documentation to reflect product updates,
enhancements, and changes.- Monitor feedback from users and stakeholders to identify areas for improvement in
documentation.Collaboration:- Work closely with Engineering, Product Managers, Sales, and other teams to gather
information and ensure product functionality and documentation alignment.Quality Assurance:- Conduct reviews and edits to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency in all written
materials.- Perform usability testing to validate the effectiveness of documentation.
Documentation Standards:- Establish and maintain documentation standards, style guides, and best practices.
- Keep abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies to ensure documentation
remains relevant.
Position Requirements:- Proven experience as a Technical Writer in a technical or engineering development
environment.- Strong understanding of technical concepts and the ability to translate complex
information into clear and concise documentation.- Proficiency in documentation tools and software (Microsoft Office products or
equivalent)- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and quality.
- Experience with knowledge bases, content management systems, and online publishing.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Knowledge of quality assurance principles.
- Proficiency in using electronic document management systems.
- Must ensure that all documents are delivered on time, follow established formats and
templates, and are compliant with corporate and local policies to meet regulatoryrequirements.- Collaborative team environment that values communication and attention to detail.
- Facilitate the review and approval process for document revisions.
Qualifications:- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., Technical Writing, English, Computer Science, etc.), or four years of experience as a Technical Writer.
- Proficiency with MS Office required. AutoCAD and SolidWorks experience a plus.
