The primary role of this role is to process all customer work orders and perform service and repair activities, service parts ordering, and filing warranty claims on Stihl and other name brand outdoor power equipment and small engines.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Provides service, maintenance and repairs for all Stihl related products, as authorized by the vendor, in a timely manner to ensure customer satisfaction. Determines part(s) needed, estimate labor and determine if repairs are covered under product warranty
- Provides regular updates to customers on issues regarding warranty coverage, service/repair delays, or availability of parts
- Assists customers by phone or in person with product questions and purchases. Responds to customer requests accurately and efficiently on product orders, or information on products or services, including product usage, application, availability, vendor rebates, pricing, etc.
- Provide accurate, timely and high-quality repair services on all work orders
- Ensure the safe use of equipment & tools
- Responsible for completing all warranty, service orders and special order paperwork and processes in a timely manner
- Responsible for special order parts for all work orders
- Responsible for completing service work in a timely manner
- Possess strong communications skills as customer interaction may be frequent and may include equipment sales support skills
- Maintains a safe, secure, clean and well organized work environment including service area and all other associated areas per vendor and company guidelines
About You
- High level of product knowledge regarding equipment service and repair, warranty and product knowledge of the hardware industry in general
- Must have knowledge in 2-cycle and 4-cycle engines, general troubleshooting, and repair.
- Knowledge of and ability to safely use general mechanic and repair tools and equipment
- Ability to participate in the equipment sales process is required
- Ability and willingness to obtain and maintain vendor required certifications and recertifications
- Ability to demonstrate proficiency in the use and safe operation of power equipment
Education and Experience
- High School Diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of directly related experience
- Above average mechanical abilities to perform small engine and outdoor power equipment repair and maintenance activities
Physical Requirements
- Ability to exert moderate, though not constant physical effort, typically involving some combination of climbing and balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling.
- Ability to stand for an extended period of time
- Ability to work independently and with limited or no supervision
- Ability to pick up or lift overhead or push or pull a minimum of 30 pounds repetitively
- Handle sharp tools with safety and expertise
- Good visual acuity including close, color and distance vision, and the ability to adjust focus
- Ability to communicate well with customers, vendors and coworkers
- Ability to stand and/or walk for long periods of time, and work in dust, fume, heat and humid environment
- Ability to occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
- Frequent lift and/or move of 20-30 pounds and occasionally up to 40 pounds with over than 40 pounds using team lift techniques
- Ability to successfully attain and maintain vendor specific certifications
Other Qualifications
- May require out of town/overnight travel for seminar or vendor certification training
- Possession of a valid State of Florida Driver License with a clean driving record in accordance with the company’s insurance carrier’s standards
- Must have current auto liability insurance for such time when operating a personal automobile is necessary
