ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Includes the following:
- Provides leadership to the accounting and financial planning and analysis functions.
- Provides oversight to accounting and ensures compliance with all relevant regulations and requirements including GAAP, government accounting standards, AICPA guide for casinos, appropriate gaming commissions, and any other federal, state, tribal regulatory agencies, or professional standards organizations.
- Stays abreast of any new accounting pronouncements and changes in accounting rules that will affect the financial statement reporting; develops and communicates recommendations for those changes to CFO.
- Ensures the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of all accounting transactions and financial reporting related to the monthly/annual general ledger closing processes.
- Provides analysis for the monthly/annual financial statements.
- Establishes annual and quarterly financial schedules for planning and reporting financial results; communicates processes and provides support to business leaders.
- Establishes, maintains, and ensures compliance with a system of internal controls; ensures compliance with NIGC established minimum internal control standards (MICS), Tribal Internal Control Standards (TICS), state and federal Regulatory Standards, and generally accepted accounting principles.
- Ensures compliance with any reporting and submission requirements promulgated by any regulatory body including any contractual obligations of submissions.
- Stays abreast of tax issues and communicates with CNB Tax Department to ensure proper reporting and remittance of taxes.
- Stays abreast of any licensing requirements including gaming facility licenses, tax licenses, alcohol and tobacco licenses and any other licensure that will affect operations.
- Ensures accuracy and timeliness of operational accounting, general accounting, and drop/count areas to support casino operations.
- Provides financial support for strategic and annual business plans.
- Implements a strategy for disposing of and acquiring fixed assets and collaborates with business leaders on the annual and long-term capital plans.
- Leads automation and productivity within the finance organization and business.
- Optimizes and projects cash flow, provides forecasts of revenue against plans, and makes recommendations to executive leadership.
- Oversees updates and maintenance of ERP system.
- Supports the annual financial auditing process or any regulatory audits.
- Assists in new casino openings or acquisitions in regard to due diligence, discovery, transition, and training.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
SUPERVISORY/MANAGEMENT AUTHORITY
Directs other leaders and sets priorities for area. Makes decisions which impacts a business unit and develops policies and practices.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field and at least 15 years of progressively related work experience in gaming, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. CPA or Certified Management Accountant certificate and/or master’s degree in accounting preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products.
- Advanced knowledge of the gaming industry in the Finance and Accounting areas.
- Knowledge of business and management principles involved in planning, resource allocation, leaderships and coordination of people and resources.
- Advanced knowledge of finance and accounting concepts, practices, principles, and procedures.
- Advanced analytical and planning skills.
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present to both small and large groups.
- Ability to advise and support executive management, as well as, lead, mentor and advise others.
- Ability to analyze complex issues and problems, describe in simple terms and proactively work towards a solution.
- Ability to simultaneously lead multiple projects with competing and set priorities.
- Ability to obtain and maintain licensing by the appropriate gaming authority.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is primarily performed in a climate-controlled and professional office setting but can be exposed to smoke and normal casino noise. Work will require travel, including overnight stays.
