As they gain valuable hands-on project experience, associates also become more involved in marketing and business development efforts. Associates are expected to develop into senior associates within approximately four years at this level and eventually into revenue generating principals. Major Responsibilities: 1. Technical Quality and Conceptualization: 40%· Understand project expectations; ask questions to clarify· Propose creative solutions to solving the problem· Understand project team roles and responsibilities· Apply economic theories to identify issues· Perform critical research· Understand the firm’s philosophical approaches well enough to anticipate our position in contrast with others2. Project/Client Management: 40%· Take responsibility for data and document organization· Delegate appropriate tasks and manage junior staff· Allocate resources · Ensure quality work products· Communicate tasks and teach procedures· Develop project schedules, follow budgets and understand possible roadblocks and proactively manage conflicts; respect deadlines; communicate difficulties early· Manage appropriate levels of client interactions, responding timely to needs· Contribute and build client relationships 3. Business Development(BD): 15%· Build personal-credibility· Author/co-author articles· Draft presentations· Participate in drafting of BD materials· Assist in IDing project leads· Draft proposals and budgets· Seek opportunities to observe higher level BD and client interactions· Build productive and collegial relationships with colleagues· Make themselves a highly sought out and valuable project resource 4. Education:· Advanced degree(s) in economics, finance, business, or related field; typically with I/O, finance or statistical analysis concentrations 2. Experience:· Teaching and Research Assistant experience is helpful as are quantitative and research related internships· Demonstrated record of outstanding academic and/or practical accomplishment· Prior experience in an entrepreneurial or relationship building environment is desirable, as is prior work experience in related industries or consultancies 3. Technical/Functional Knowledge:· Strong analytic and quantitative skills, along with practical problem solving abilities· Proficiency working with programs such as SAS, STATA and Excel· Strong writing and organizational skills 4. Interpersonal Skills:· Desire to work effectively with project teams· Listen, incorporate ideas of others, effectively receive feedback· Ability to build rapport and maintain professional relationships with all levels both internally and externally· Entrepreneurial orientation · Responds appropriately to difficult situations and/or conflict· Motivates self and others· Presents information clearly, confidently, concisely and persuasively both in writing as well as in person 1.
