Being a Traffic Clerk contacts transporters for freight pick-up and ensures that cargo is routed appropriately. Communicates changes to routing and timelines. Additionally, Traffic Clerk prepares and processes bills of lading (BOL) and other shipping documentation. Requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Typically reports to a supervisor. The Traffic Clerk works under moderate supervision. Gaining or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline. Provides technical assistance and guidance for multi-site/phase investigation, remediation, analysis, improvement, planning, engineering, design, and operation of streets and highways, their networks, adjacent land uses, and interaction with other modes of transportation and their terminals. Tasks may include performing capacity analyses, reviewing permitting, and assisting with the design, concept development, and construction of roadways, traffic patterns, and traffic signal design and timing and lighting. Substantiates reports and documentation regarding materials and construction specifications. Ensures that responsibilities are delivered and adhered to with a level of quality that meets or exceeds acceptable industry standards for design, safety, and functionality.
