Ultrasound Technologist operates ultrasonic equipment to produce images of the body's organs and tissues for diagnostic purposes. Performs sonographic examinations to locate, evaluate and record critical functional, pathological, and anatomical data. Being an Ultrasound Technologist records test results, inspects and maintains equipment, and orders supplies when needed. May require an associate degree in a related area. Additionally, Ultrasound Technologist typically requires completion of an accredited program in Medical Sonography. May require registration with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) and/or certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT). May require a state license to practice. Typically reports to a chief technologist or manager. The Ultrasound Technologist occasionally directed in several aspects of the work. Unregistered $35.67-43.80

The Ultrasound Technologist performs sonographic procedures and related diagnostic tests, producing images for interpretation by a licensed practitioner. This position exercises professional judgment. Also provides appropriate patient care and recognizes patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure.

EDUCATION:
Required:
â— Graduate of a one year or 18 month accredited Ultrasound Program or Registered Radiologic Technologist
Preferred:
â— Registered Radiologic Technologist with completion of advanced Ultrasound program
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS:
Required:
â— Is eligible for and/or has American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography certification
â— Must maintain current BLS certification

Required:
â— If no attendance at an accredited Ultrasound program, minimum of six months training before proficient
â— Has knowledge of growth and development across the lifespan and the ability to use that knowledge to individualize the plan and delivery of care and services
