Veterinary Technician assists veterinarian with exams, surgeries, and first aid. Collects and documents case history and treatment details. Being a Veterinary Technician monitors vital signs and condition of animals being treated and provides nursing care. Takes X rays, EKG, Ultrasound, and performs various lab test including urinalysis and blood counts. Additionally, Veterinary Technician depending on state regulations, may administer anesthesia, injections, and perform dental prophylaxis, catheterization, and other procedures under supervision of a veterinarian. Instructs pet owners on how to administer medication and other animal care skills. Typically requires an associate degree. Depending on state, may require RVT certification. Typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The Veterinary Technician works independently within established procedures associated with the specific job function. Has gained proficiency in multiple competencies relevant to the job. To be a Veterinary Technician typically requires 3-5 years of related experience. (Copyright 2024 Salary.com)

    We are looking for a compassionate and eager registered veterinary technician to join our team. To thrive in this role, you will be someone who enjoys interacting with people as well as animals, and who can communicate effectively and professionally with the doctors, staff, and clients.

    Preferred applicant should have at least one year of experience in a veterinary hospital setting. We are looking for a team member that is eager to learn and has a compassion for veterinary medicine.

    Must be willing to work Saturdays.

    Pay: TBD based on experience

    Duties include but are not limited to:

    • Proper restraining of animals during exams and procedures
    • Taking vital signs accurately and collecting lab samples
    • Helping maintain the flow of appointments
    • Filling of prescriptions
    • Collect laboratory specimens
    • Maintaining laboratory equipment
    • Assisting with in-house labs and sending out diagnostic tests.
    • Ability to administer SQ injections.
    • General housekeeping duties
    • Educate Pet Parents
    • Ability to communicate effectively to Veterinarians and Hospital staff

    Requirements and Qualifications:

    • Must be a pet fanatic – pets are part of our family!
    • Basic understanding of animal behavior and health care
    • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
    • Passion for working with animals and their owners
    • Previous experience in animal care or in an animal clinic preferred
    • Ability to simultaneously prioritize and manage numerous patient needs
    • Flexibility with work hours and able to work additional hours and weekends when necessary.

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: $18.00 - $26.00 per hour

    Expected hours: 32 – 36 per week
