Job Description

The Aviation Engineering Supervisor supervises and delegates the daily operations of an aeronautical engineering team and implements policies and procedures to guide workflow and ensure compliance with federal regulations. Oversees the design of aircraft and helicopter parts and propulsion systems to optimize aerodynamic performance and promote safe, efficient, and reliable operation. Being an Aviation Engineering Supervisor reviews prototype testing to validate the performance and safety of aircraft parts in various conditions. Develops computational models and simulations to understand and assess the performance of aircraft design and identify necessary improvements. In addition, Aviation Engineering Supervisor collects, processes, and analyzes aircraft data and conducts calculations to understand and estimate flight parameters. Utilizes CAE tools to analyze structural integrity to ensure aircraft parts can withstand stresses and loads encountered during flight. Typically requires a master's degree. Typically reports to a manager. The Aviation Engineering Supervisor supervises a group of primarily para-professional level staffs. May also be a level above a supervisor within high volume administrative/production environments. Makes day-to-day decisions within or for a group/small department. Has some authority for personnel actions. Working as an Aviation Engineering Supervisor typically requires 3-5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor.
