The Chief of Anesthesiology develops, implements, and maintains anesthesia procedures and practices. Responsible for the efficient operation of anesthesia services. Being a Chief of Anesthesiology manages a staff of anesthesia technicians and nurses. Works closely with hospital staff, department directors, and physicians to ensure the highest standards of quality and service are maintained. In addition, Chief of Anesthesiology requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to top management. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. The Chief of Anesthesiology manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Working as a Chief of Anesthesiology typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.
