Job Description

The Civil/Construction/Structural Engineering Director oversees overall schedules and ensures procedures are in place so that work is completed on time. Directs a department of civil engineers and their projects. Being a Civil/Construction/Structural Engineering Director maintains relationships with management, team members, and important clients and subcontractors. Establishes quality control and safety policies. In addition, Civil/Construction/Structural Engineering Director coordinates new critical project partners and helps foster relationships between management and those new business prospects. Makes resource allocation and staffing decisions. Has deep and broad engineering knowledge and experience. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. May require a Professional Engineer License (PE). Typically reports to top management. The Civil/Construction/Structural Engineering Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Working as a Civil/Construction/Structural Engineering Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.
