Job Description

The Computer Aided Design Manager establishes departmental standards for software, techniques, and tools to prepare technical drawings. Manages a team of computer aided design (CAD) drafters. Being a Computer Aided Design Manager reviews performance on projects. Coordinates with engineers or designers and CAD drafters to ensure stakeholder satisfaction with projects. In addition, Computer Aided Design Manager assesses potential new uses for CAD within the organization. Uses knowledge of the field to keep the department's software, techniques, and tools up to date. Requires a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to a director or head of unit/department. The Computer Aided Design Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Working as a Computer Aided Design Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 - 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
