The Digital Signal Processing Engineer V applies signal and image processing principles and mathematical methods to develop image capture systems. Designs, develops, and tests mathematical algorithms used to analyze and process signal and imagery data. Being a Digital Signal Processing Engineer V performs extensive testing and validation of designs using simulation and modeling software and tools. Develops the concepts, requirements, architecture, prototypes, algorithms, and models for systems. In addition, Digital Signal Processing Engineer V conducts research and studies to create innovative approaches for solutions and products. May require a PhD. Typically requires a master's degree in electrical engineering, mathematics, computer science, or related discipline. Typically reports to a director. Being a Digital Signal Processing Engineer V works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
