The Modeling & Simulation Engineer V uses machine learning, computational methods, and data analysis to identify, implement, and test relevant and viable algorithms for modeling a system or problem. Designs, develops, and evaluates the effectiveness of algorithms and frameworks to simulate and model complex systems such as behavior, threat detection, or real-world systems or vision. Being a Modeling & Simulation Engineer V develops visualizations to review and communicate results. Creates scalable frameworks to run simulations repeatedly and quickly or model operational environments and processes. In addition, Modeling & Simulation Engineer V writes and reviews code in relevant languages, packages, and libraries. Typically requires a master's degree in mathematics, physics, computer science, or engineering. Typically reports to a manager or head of a unit/department. Being a Modeling & Simulation Engineer V works autonomously. Goals are generally communicated in "solution" or project goal terms. May provide a leadership role for the work group through knowledge in the area of specialization. Works on advanced, complex technical projects or business issues requiring state of the art technical or industry knowledge.
