The Operating Systems Administration Director oversees systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance to ensure uptime and efficient performance. Directs the maintenance and technical support of operating system environments and various computer systems for an organization. Being an Operating Systems Administration Director oversees the troubleshooting and resolution of system issues. Develops policies and procedures to install and configure software and resolve technical problems. In addition, Operating Systems Administration Director reviews root cause analysis (RCA) and identifies potential technological, training, or process improvements. Stays current on the latest technologies and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Manages vendor relationships and evaluates software licensing and maintenance agreements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Operating Systems Administration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. Working as an Operating Systems Administration Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience.
