Job Description
The P/C Underwriting Manager leads and trains the underwriters to ensure integrity of property and casualty underwriting activities and processes. Manages and oversees the property/casualty insurance underwriting program for individuals and/or groups, such as accident insurance, crime insurance, loss of property insurance etc. Executes guidelines and procedures regarding risk exposure, application renewal, acceptance, modification, and denial. Being a P/C Underwriting Manager may assist subordinates with large accounts. Experienced in risk management and assists the underwriters on more complex applications. In addition, P/C Underwriting Manager requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to a head of a unit/department. The P/C Underwriting Manager manages subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. True first level manager. Ensures that project/department milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets. Has full authority for personnel actions. Extensive knowledge of department processes. Working as a P/C Underwriting Manager typically requires 5 years experience in the related area as an individual contributor. 1 to 3 years supervisory experience may be required.
