Chief Pilot (Jet Fleet) assigns and supervises the duties of flight and ground personnel. Manages the overall operation of the aviation department. Being a Chief Pilot (Jet Fleet) coordinates aircraft maintenance with flight scheduling. Must stay current with federal and local flight regulations. Additionally, Chief Pilot (Jet Fleet) typically requires a bachelor's degree. Possesses current airline transport certificate with necessary type ratings. Requires a minimum of 5,000 hours of flight experience and 1,500 hours of pilot-in-command experience. Typically reports to a director or head of a unit or department. The Chief Pilot (Jet Fleet) manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
