Job Description for Flight Operations Director

Flight Operations Director directs overall aviation operations focused on operational efficiency and compliance with regulatory and organizational operating policies, procedures, and standards. Develops plans and schedules for skill development and training for pilots, crews, and operators. Being a Flight Operations Director ensures all operations follow and comply with current FAA regulations, airworthiness, and safety standards. Oversees flight scheduling, aircraft maintenance, and inspection operations. Additionally, Flight Operations Director applies risk management best practices for safety to assess and manage operations. May require a bachelor's degree or equivalent. Typically reports to senior management. The Flight Operations Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure. To be a Flight Operations Director typically requires 5+ years of managerial experience. Deep knowledge of the managed sub-function and solid knowledge of the overall departmental function.
