Job Description for Systems Administration Director

Systems Administration Director directs the maintenance and technical support of operating system environments and various computer systems for an organization. Oversees systems maintenance tasks, such as system back-up, recovery, and file maintenance to ensure uptime and efficient performance. Being a Systems Administration Director develops policies and procedures to install and configure software and resolve technical problems. Oversees the troubleshooting and resolution of system issues. Additionally, Systems Administration Director reviews root cause analysis (RCA) and identifies potential technological, training, or process improvements. Stays current on the latest technologies and best practices to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations. Manages vendor relationships and evaluates software licensing and maintenance agreements. Requires a bachelor's degree. Typically reports to senior management. The Systems Administration Director manages a departmental sub-function within a broader departmental function. Creates functional strategies and specific objectives for the sub-function and develops budgets/policies/procedures to support the functional infrastructure.
