Summary

The Editorial Photography team is seeking a visually-driven and highly organized intern to join their team. Working across multiple print and digital AARP publications, you will contribute to an award-winning photo and design team, helping with everything from photo research to shoot production. This internship is a unique opportunity to learn more about the photograph industry, within a dynamic environment laid out to help you improve your visual literacy and further the goals of AARP. 

Responsibilities

On an average day, you will:

-Support the Photo Editor in the development and execution of photography for AARP Media.

-Assist in maintaining the photo library for AARP (photo archiving, uploading, organizing, and tracking metadata)

-Research and procure existing photography (news, celebrity, travel, conceptual, food, products, and entertainment, historic, and personal imagery) for publication. Ensures accurate credit and caption information on deadline.

-Assistance with photoshoot production (researching locations, stylists and photographers)

-Various administrative tasks (managing magazine library, prop sales, and publication’s PDF distribution)

-Photography based on skill level and interest may include still-lives, reportage, and events

Requirements

Prospective interns must be currently enrolled in a degree program at an accredited college or university; and be considered rising undergraduate juniors or seniors, graduate students, post-doctorate students or continuing education programs. A portfolio should be included with your resume, along with two letters of recommendation.

The ideal candidate would be a hard worker with an eagerness to learn, who pays attention to detail and has a love for photography.

-Highly organized and self-motivated

-Able to multitask and work within set deadlines

-Polished communication skills, both written and verbal

-Knowledge of photographers and photographic styles, with an eye for outstanding photography

-Working knowledge of Photoshop and other Adobe creative suite programs.

-Experience with video, social media and publishing a plus
