Job DescriptionThe
Associate Director, Clinical Training position (‘Clinical Trainer’) is
responsible for executing approved clinical training on eye care drug delivery
systems and devices for the Interventional Glaucoma sales teams. This position works in collaboration with the
Sales Training Team to develop clinical expertise of Allergan Sales Reps and provide
clinical training for Eye Care Providers (ECPs) in a variety of practice
settings. The Clinical Trainer ensures the highest levels of device and
procedure-specific clinical support, advancing a market leading clinical training
platform, expanding an effective user base, and delivering exceptional levels of
customer service.
In
addition to evaluating clinical knowledge of Sales Reps, the Clinical Trainer serves
as the primary point of escalation for complex clinical cases and questions,
coordinating higher level internal and/or peer-to-peer support as needed, ensuring appropriate clinical policies,
procedures, and reporting systems are applied in a compliant manner
consistently across the product field teams.
The Clinical Trainer supports national, regional and local conferences
as needed.
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Deliver Best-in-Class Clinical Training and
Support for Drug Delivery Systems and Surgical Devices
- Train Allergan sales representatives, contributing to the
development of a cohesive team of product-specific subject matter experts
with an unparalleled level of competence and credibility. This training will enable product
representatives to:
- Guide physicians
through novel clinical and/or surgical procedures they may have never
performed;
- Guide surgeons
through the management of a range of possible procedural
troubleshooting scenarios and/or intraoperative complications;
- Guide surgeons
through the postoperative management (where relevant) of an unfamiliar
procedure for both routine and complex cases;
- Document
surgeon training progress and completion in compliance with Allergan
policy and any applicable regulatory requirements;
- Monitor,
document and ensure swift progression of physicians through the training
process.
- Evaluate and provide feedback on training progress and clinical
knowledge of Allergan product representatives to appropriate management and
leadership.
- On an as-needed basis, deliver clinical training to physicians
in private and institutional practice settings to back up and support
Allergan product representatives.
- For at least the first 12 months, 80% of training effort
will be devoted to drug delivery and 20% to surgical device

Academic Institutions and KOL Relations
- Support the development of a platform for Allergan
integration within residency and fellowship programs at academic institutions.
- Deliver clinical training to attending physicians, residents
and fellows.
- Manage key opinion leaders and top target customer
relationships directly and through the field team interaction:
- Assists broader commercial team with CORE, advisory boards,
wet labs, and other training opportunities.

and support for complex clinical cases, coordinating support with peer-to-peer
expertise as needed, and ensuring timely response to customer requests

Planning, Execution and Support of National,
Regional and Local Conferences
- Participate in the planning and coordination of
Ophthalmology Congresses, CME courses and marketing initiatives in
conjunction with the field team. This
includes, venue selections, hardware procurement, on-site event setup and
hands-on physician training.

QualificationsEducation
and Experience
- Bachelor
degree or equivalent combination of experience and
education required.
- Broad
knowledge of the Ophthalmic Medical Device & Pharmaceutical Industries.
- Five or more years of direct ophthalmic surgical device training
and support management experience.
- Experience in medical/surgical glaucoma is highly beneficial, but
not required
- Experience
and knowledge with/in:
- The surgical theater tactfully guiding
surgeons through a new and unfamiliar procedure
- Inner
working of a physician’s practice and health care delivery system,
- Developing
successful physician and practice stakeholder relationships
- Surgical
training and support force deployment and training scheduling.
