Position Summary:

ACCEL Schools is hiring a highly dedicated Building Substitute Teacher for Northside Preparatory Academy located in Cincinnati, Ohio dedicated to providing a superior education for all students. We are seeking a Substitute Teacher that is passionate and excited to create a positive environment that prioritizes student learning and development.

Founded in 2014, ACCEL Schools is a K-12 public charter school management organization (CMO) across the United States. We manage a network of over 50 charter schools within Ohio and surrounding states. Northside Preparatory Academy—Home of the Rams—was established in 2020 to provide a safe and secure learning environment for elementary and middle school students in the Northside, Winton, and Spring Grove neighborhoods of Cincinnati. A member of the ACCEL Schools network of high achieving charter schools, the school creates an engaging learning environment that accelerates achievement without losing sight of student well-being and personal development. Teachers, staff, students, and parents embrace a culture of high expectations for both academics and behavior, creating a thriving learning community. Northside Prep prepares students for success in college and careers with a curriculum that exceeds Ohio state standards and regular analysis of achievement data to individualize instruction. Responsibilities:

  • Follow, deliver, and implement lesson plans provided by the teacher
  • Ensures that regular classroom routines and procedures are being followed
  • Flexibility to cover classrooms at various grade levels throughout the school year
  • Manage student behavior and report any discipline problems to school administration
  • Create a positive environment for students to learn in
  • Utilize school specific approved curricula reflected in the teacher’s lesson plans
  • Implement school-wide culture expectations and norms
  • Incorporate technology skills to support learning
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of non-instructional activities, as needed
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 Qualifications:

  • Active and current state Substitute Teacher license
  • Bachelor’s degree in any field of study
  • High level of comfort working in a growth-focused coaching environment based on frequent observations, debriefs, action planning, and progress monitoring
  • Ability to be flexible and adaptable to change
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to properly manage confidential information
  • Able to supervise students of various ages in different school settings (playground, cafeteria, etc.)
  • Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks 
  • Experience working within an urban environment
