Job Description:
The IT Operator I provides automation, job execution and job monitoring support to the end users of the Credit Union. Primary responsibility is to process a variety of scheduled routines, operating runs, and batch processes for the purpose of continuous availability and uninterrupted processing. This includes monitoring system logs for error messages, failures, peripheral malfunctions, and making recommendations to resolve errors that occur. Provide input on the efficiency of the credit union’s technology infrastructure to include firewall, hubs, switches, enterprise routers, servers, and network hardware and software. Research and resolve network problems for end users.
Major Responsibilities:
• Assures system availability of credit union operational services
• Operates mid-range computers, software applications, and peripheral equipment using established procedures to ensure optimal performance and uphold quality standards
• Follows documentation for daily, monthly, and special operation procedures with minimal supervision
• Responsible for monitoring the status of the jobs processed via our automation console
• Responsible for making minor changes in jobs, testing and building schedules
• Performs data synchronization activities across systems
• Performs preventative maintenance for daily and monthly backups of critical operational systems
• Detects, troubleshoots, resolves and escalates incidents and problems in a timely manner following established troubleshooting guides
• Monitors and troubleshoots all interfaces with other vendors
• Ensures user satisfaction by responding to the help desk calls, emails, and trouble tickets; seeing each through to completion
• Logs all user questions and problems and tracks the same through to resolution
• Install, configure, and test new servers for systems, fax, printers, etc. Technology includes knowledge of Windows, NT, Citrix, SQL, and/or Exchange
• Maintain complete and accurate documentation and support services/warranties for new equipment
• Support the credit union’s local area and wide area network hardware and software to ensure that back end functions, systems, PCs, servers, and all peripheral products are operational
• Protect the confidentiality and integrity of financial sensitive information and maintain the technical mechanisms of legitimate access and release of the data to meet the requirements of the Gramm-Leach Bliley Act (GLBA)
• Cover Help Desk Coordinator Job Duties as needed
• Supports Facilities as needed
• Adheres to computer room security procedures
Requirements
Job Requirements:
• Minimum high school diploma. College or trade school degree preferred
• Certification in Microsoft desktop and/or server application are desired; A Hardware/Software and/or Network or related work experience
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone or in person.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Ability to troubleshoot computer hardware and software issues as required
• Proven analytical and problem solving skills
• Keen attention to detail
• Experience working in a team-oriented and collaborative environment
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate by phone or in person
• Works one of several set shifts, Mornings, Afternoons, Nights or Weekends. Hours may be extended during month end processing
• Corelation Keystone or Symitar Core experience preferred
• SMA OpCon or ISE Job Scheduler experience preferred
• SQL, Scripting, IBM DB2 knowledge preferred
Skills:
• Knowledge of batch processing, system startup and shutdown procedures, and system operation commands is required
• Previous experience in working in a team is essential
• Ability to work independently during shifts where supervisor is unavailable and exercise sound judgment when troubleshooting issues
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use wrist/hand/fingers to key accurately when using calculator machines or computer keyboards; reach with hands and arms. Must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision and ability to focus. Must possess a valid California driver’s license and a means of transportation to be able to travel independently to branch locations to deal with equipment or software problems or installations as necessary.
