Coverstar Central is the premier supplier and technical support provider of automatic swimming pool covers in the United States. Located in Indianapolis, Indiana with approximately 30 employees, we distribute and install automatic pool covers across the entire Mid-West.

Position Overview

The LEAD SERVICE TECHNICIAN is a part of a team that serves our customers by providing installation and repair service primarily in Indiana and the surrounding states. The LEAD SERVICE TECHNICIAN gives advice to both the customers and the office staff on specific jobs in addition to maintaining truck inventory and filling out needed daily paperwork. In addition, they supervise, provide leadership, and train truck helpers as they together service the customers’ automatic pool cover needs. 

Requirements

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Receive work orders via company iPad from the Service Coordinator, confirming all information is clear and well understood before departure.
  • Prepare needed materials, stock truck appropriately, and travel to job location using GPS software, always practicing safe driving.
  • Use installation techniques to accurately install new automatic pool cover systems
  • Use problem solving and troubleshooting skills to diagnose complex repair problems, continuing to persevere when a solution is not easily identifiable.
  • Provide technical support and assistance onsite, including answering questions, providing advice, and responding to inquiries on organizational products as requested
  • Communicate clearly and regularly with the Service Manager, Service Coordinator, and sales team regarding issues with a job
  • Accurately document prior day’s work, including details of completed jobs, root cause analysis, customer inquiries, and recommendations for future interaction with customer, ensuring work orders, checklists, and RGA/Cover Repair paperwork is completed to it’s entirety
  • Check truck for necessary material and use Stock Movement Forms as needed
  • Provide supervision and training to truck helper to develop them as possible future truck leaders. Instruct them on cover layout and installation techniques, proper tool usage, and identification and usage of parts, always ensuring they are working safely and clean job sites appropriately.
  • Maintain truck cleanliness and coordinate truck service and maintenance with Service Coordinator
  • Perform other job related duties and projects as needed

Qualifications and Skills

  • High school diploma
  • 18 years of age or older
  • Possession of a valid driver’s license and good driving record
  • Ability to pass a drug screening and background check
  • Ability to bend, dig, reach, climb, lift heavy objects (70 lbs regularly, sometimes more rarely), jump in and out of dugout holes, and get up and down from hard surfaces such as concrete and tile with ease.
  • Willingness to work in rain, heat, and cold
  • Demonstrated hand and power tool knowledge and experience; prior installation/service experience preferred.
  • Ability and desire to apply technical knowledge in identifying cause-effect relationships that lead to diagnosing difficult installation/service situations
  • Willingness to use current technology, including iPads to properly fill out and complete all required work orders and forms and GPS software to take the most efficient route
  • Ability to use good customer service skills with customers and communicate effectively with organizational staff
  • Ability to maintain long working hours including overtime, Monday through Friday, during are busy seasons of spring, summer and fall
  • Ability to travel long distances and spend the night out of town up to four nights a week (never on the weekends)
  • Ability to swim in rare instances
