Job Overview

As a Patent Classification Specialist, your time will be dedicated to:

• Researching and keeping abreast of the very latest developments within your chosen science and/or engineering field - reviewing new US Patent applications before anyone else.
• Appling your knowledge to help classify and award new patents – thus making the US patent system operate more efficiently, rewarding inventors and serving the public knowledge.
• Creating classification data for patent documents to enable easy search and identification – thus making them accessible to advance public knowledge.

Required Qualifications/Skills

• Related or unrelated previous work experience, internships and/or volunteering
  • Science /engineering based internship
• Demonstrated ability to learn and understand diverse technical subject matter
• Exceptional analytical skills and attention to detail
• The ability to use computer systems to perform research and classification operations
• Ability to work independently to meet defined production and quality standards
• Demonstrated experience performing research
  • Previous experience with intellectual property is highly desirable but not necessary

Education Requirement

• Degree in Electrical Engineering/or Physics

Applicants must also:

• Be legally authorized to work in the United States
• Reside and work in the U.S
• Have resided in the U.S. for the past two consecutive years
