JOB PURPOSE AND REPORTING STRUCTURE

This is a highly visible Supply Chain role that will oversee and manage the Planning Team and processes for the Performance Alloys and Composites Business for Materion.  This is a hands-on position responsible for owning the mid to long-term supply plan that will effectively and efficiently support the forecasted demand.  Collaboration with other members of the Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering and Customer Service is paramount to achieve the inventory, cost, and service objectives. This position will own the casting plans and will require close communications with manufacturing regarding manpower/equipment requirements and related assumptions.  This role will be the subject matter expert and superuser on SAP Integrated Business Planning.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manages the establishment of production and inventory plans that balances production resources, supports customer requirements and meets company inventory objectives through the 3-24 month horizon.
  • Facilitates the Monthly Supply Review Meetings.
  • Owns the SAP IBP tool and aggregate planning process.
  • Communicates with sales and operations to highlight demand changes and or supply changes or constraints.
  • Acts as a change leader to proactively resolve supply and demand differences as efficiently and effectively as possible.  Escalate and communicate any unresolved supply constraints
  • Communicates with the scheduling team for planned orders and production changes that will enter the scheduling horizon.
  • Manages the casting campaign schedules for the WAF, NCS, OCS, and Lorain by understanding the assumptions, constraints, demand, and inventory objectives.
  • Manages the review of work center loading though the entire planning horizon and communicate with manufacturing to identify overloading or underutilization situations that need to be addressed.
  • Provides finance with anticipated work center hours that are a function of the forecast over the planning horizon.
  • Provides on-going SAP IBP training and other training/procedural support to new and current department subordinates.
  • Provides leadership and coaching for assigned subordinates.
  • Manages the update of work center loading parameters in SAP when manufacturing communicates changes in work center capacities.
  • Manages the update of SAP work center calendars and queue time values.
  • Manages annual work center queue time reviews. Reviews and finalizes proposed queue time changes with manufacturing.
  • Facilitates the review of weekly work center performances of actual hours versus standard hours with manufacturing and planning to identify situations where capacity adjustments are required. 
  • Responsible for the safety of employees and self.  Ensures departmental conformance to company safety policies and procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • A Bachelor’s Degree specific to Supply Chain Management, or related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience utilizing SAP Software. Must be proficient and have strong hands-on experience and knowledge using the SAP Production Planning, Capacity Planning and MRP modules. Experience with SAP IBP a plus.
  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Advanced skills and experience in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

A combination of the following knowledge and skill requirements are desired:

  • ASCM CPIM/CIRM/CSCP certification.
  • Strong analytical and mathematical abilities.
  • Effective leadership with a collaborative style. Must be able to effectively communicate and work closely with various cross-functional groups at multiple locations.
  • Proven track record of successful development and implementation of innovative ideas with demonstrated business results.
  • Holds others, and self, accountable for business success.
  • Have a positive, risk taking attitude with a strong "bias for action".
  • Promotes the development, enhancement and use of SCM tools and techniques that will improve organizational effectiveness and create economic value.
  • 10% overnight travel to worldwide Materion manufacturing/service center facilities and to customer/vendor locations.
