The Principal, Academic Director and teacher leaders form the instructional leadership team (ILT) and collaborate to actualize a rigorous academic vision for teaching and learning. The Academic Director is responsible for maintaining  a culture of joy, warmth, and rigor in every classroom, analyzing student performance data, and ensuring that teachers are prepared to execute the highest quality instruction. The chief responsibilities for the Academic Director include (1) overseeing the school-wide implementation of curriculum, instruction and assessment of Public Prep’s curriculum; (2) ) supporting adult development through active and ongoing coaching cycles, professional development, supervision and evaluation of staff; (3) supporting the social-emotional growth and development of scholars; and (4) partnering with families to support their scholars success. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the supervisor.  As a key member of the school and instructional leadership teams, the Academic Director will also support and advise the Principal on hiring, budgeting, scheduling, and other matters of concern.  The Academic Director may supervise or be responsible for varying bands of grades or content areas (i.e., upper vs. lower elementary, Humanities vs. STEM, or some other configuration).
