What does an Digital Campaign Manager do at companies like SOUTHERN POVERTY LAW CENTER?

Summary: 

The Digital Campaign Manager will serve as the administrator of the Southern Poverty Law Center’s advocacy platform, Every Action. The SPLC Digital Campaign Manager will focus on developing and executing digital advocacy campaigns related to state-based political advocacy, along with occasional federal advocacy campaigns. The ideal candidate should have significant digital campaign experience and possess a strong grasp of running marketing campaigns and driving engagement across a variety of digital platforms.

This position can be based in Washington, D.C., or  Montgomery, AL., 

Primary Job Functions:

  • Managing the SPLC’s Every Action tool;
  • Creating and executing digital campaigns in support of both state and national priorities;
  • Developing and managing marketing campaigns in coordination with Marketing Department;
  • Writing, editing and curating content for state-based digital media platforms;
  • Working directly with policy counsel and field staff in the Deep South to create compelling, original and effective messaging to advance SPLC’s policy priorities;
  • Measuring and reporting the impact of the department to leadership and other stakeholders;
  • Collaborating with our marketing department on digital ad and list building campaigns.

Qualifications –

Desired Technical Skills:

  • Experience working in Every Action or a comparable tool required;
  • Familiarity with basic HTML, CSS;
  • Working knowledge of Google Analytics and other analytics platforms;
  • Experience with Facebook advertising and Google AdWords a plus;
  • Video and audio editing skills a plus.

Education and Related Work Experience:

  • 5-7 years of professional experience working in a digital campaigns or publishing;
  • Experience working for a nonprofit, political campaign or social action campaign required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent writing and proofreading skills.
  • Proven record of running successful digital campaigns.
  • Experience working with policymakers.
  • Experience creating compelling email and social media content.
  • Ability to multi-task in fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to independently manage priorities.
  • Ability to work with staff across all organizational programs.
  • Positive, energetic, personable, and respectful of others.
  • Strong passion for social justice and fostering change on the policy level.

Other Special Considerations:

This job is performed under general office conditions and is not subject to any strenuous physical demands or dangerous conditions. This job does occasionally require weekend and overnight travel.
