TIC GUMS Intern, Process Engineering Salary in the United States

We are seeking a highly motivated and dynamic college student to join the organization for an Engineering internship for the winter break of 2019.  The Engineering Intern will support a parts inventory gap assessment between physical counts and our computerized maintenance management system.  The intern will be responsible for achieving a portion of the Sort phase of 5S through cycle counting, to determine what stays and what is waste.  The main area of focus will be our maintenance stores.    

As an Intern, Process Engineering, your responsibilities will include:

• Learn and apply basic lean 5S terminology and methodologies
• Learn TIC Gums maintenance stores physical layout and structure
• Learn to identify physical parts compared to inventory in the computerized maintenance system
• Develop a gap assessment in physical quantities, naming conventions, and locations
• Determine the baseline accuracy of parts inventory
• Record data in Excel and other archiving databases as appropriate.  Effectively communicate results to project teams and stakeholders
• Organize, summarize and report data generated from gap assessment and make recommendations for improvements
• Troubleshooting and root cause analysis
• Assist Engineering and Maintenance department with daily tasks
• Create documents that can be used for training production operators and/or serve as visual job aids
• Maintain a clean, safe work environment. Follow guidelines set-out for good housekeeping, GMPs, and safety
• Present project status, updates, and outcomes to team and stakeholders

Qualified candidates will have:

• Progress towards a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 3.0 GPA required
• Availability to work full time (40 hours/week) between December 2019 and January 2020
• Ability to work safely in a manufacturing/plant environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, e.g. making presentations and writing technical data/reports
• High proficiency with Microsoft Excel; knowledge of other basic computer software applications such as MS Office (Word and PowerPoint).

• Be a currently enrolled student in a Bachelor’s Degree Program. If currently enrolled in an undergrad status, must have completed at least two years of coursework with status as a sophomore, junior or non-graduating senior.
