What is a Civil Engineer?

A civil engineer applies principles of engineering, mathematics, materials, and science to design and build infrastructure systems such as bridges, roads, dams, transportation centers and treatment systems for water and other resources. Civil engineers may work for civil engineering firms or for governmental agencies. One of the most famous civil engineering organizations is the Army Corps of Engineers.
