Drilling Engineer is responsible for the design and implementation of oil and gas wells. Performs design evaluations and recommends alterations to improve safety, costs, and efficiency. Being a Drilling Engineer may conduct risk assessment and cost estimation. Requires a bachelor's degree in engineering. Additionally, Drilling Engineer is familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field. Typically reports to supervisor or manager.     Permian Resources (NYSE: PR) is currently seeking a Senior Drilling Engineer. Reporting to the Drilling Manager, this position will be responsible for planning, developing, and overseeing the drilling operations. The Senior Drilling Engineer will be involved in every aspect of well drilling, from the initial well design to testing, completion and abandonment.
     
    General Responsibilities
    • Undertake engineering design and the planning of wells
    • Draw up drilling programs, taking account of geologic formations and formation pressures
    • Design mud program including estimation of chemicals needed for jobs
    • Develop scope of work for services and equipment tenders and evaluate and present bid offers
    • Prepare well data sheets
    • Obtain relevant data, carrying out engineering analysis on site, recommending necessary actions and writing up reports
    • Monitor the daily progress of well operations
    • Keep track of current daily costs, comparing actual costs with expenditure proposals and recommending cost-effective changes
    • Liaise with specialist contractors and suppliers
    • Liaise with regulatory authorities
    • Monitor safety and ensure the good maintenance of the well
    • Adhere to environmental protection standards
    • Contribute to conceptual field development design
    • Manage inventory of company's equipment on well sites.
    • Travel to company designated well sites to monitor and oversee drilling, testing and completions programs
    • Other duties as assigned.
    Position Requirements:
    • Bachelor of Science in Engineering required.
    • Minimum 5 years of oil and gas experience, drilling engineer experience preferred.  
    • Excellent analytical and troubleshooting skills
    • Must be able to work in a fast-paced, team environment, as projects will require collaboration with various teams
    • Must be willing to travel to well locations to oversee operations
