Description:
The Designer / Drafter Specialist 2 produces 3D models and 2D drawings, and incorporates engineering changes per design standards for various assemblies and mechanical components for the aerospace industry. The individual will act as the lead checker on product definition releases in support of NPI engineering projects and mentor to other Designer / Drafters.
Responsibilities:
• Create, change, and check CATIA drawings & models
• Write, review, and implement changes to engineering drawings
• Act as a SR. advisor/mentor to other Designer / Drafters
• Sign-off authority as Checker on product definition releases
• Coordinate with the Project Manager/Engineer on technical design, budget and effort hours estimate, task assignments and sequence of execution
• Create project status reports for product definition releases
• Ensure compliance with established design standards and practices
• Primary work includes designs of fuel systems for both military and commercial aircraft
• Contribute to engineering department delivery and quality metrics
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance is required. May need to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and additional hours as necessary. Limited work from home schedule is available.
Skills & Qualifications:
• Proficient with a 3D CAD Software preferably CATIA V5 or V6; ENOVIA experience a plus
• Proficient with 2D drawing standards and requirements including GD&T
• Ability to improve products or processes by applying professional and business knowledge
• Ability to effectively apply ASME drafting standards
• Experience as a design checker on models and drawings
• MS Office and SAP is a plus
• Good interpersonal skills with ability to work in cross-functional teams
• Good communication skills with ability to interact with customers and suppliers
• Self-starter and independent thinker
• Aerospace industry experience is a plus
Experience Level:
- 7 years of Catia or Mechanical Design/Lead experience
- Expert Level
