About the Company
Big Sandy Lodge and Resort was originally built in 1902 and officially established in 2005. It currently offers 15 villas and 6 cabins for rent. The property offers a multitude of outdoor activities for guests to enjoy, including fishing, hiking, snowmobiling and an outdoor sport court. Inside the lodge, guests can take advantage of the banquet center, indoor swimming pool, hot tub, sauna, and workout facility. On-site dining includes the Bear’s Den Sports Bar & Restaurant, which boasts a three-tiered deck to witness the beautiful scenery of northern Minnesota while enjoying a meal or cocktail. The property was purchased by Mille Lacs Corporate Ventures in 2016 and there are plans to build additional cabins for rent to guests who visit the resort, increasing the number of available cabins to 10.

Position Summary
This position is responsible for performing the accounting and analysis for investment and derivative portfolios for our clients. This includes developing; implementing and/or maintaining one or a combination of generally accepted accounting systems. Prepare and analyze financial reports, journal entries, maintain and reconcile ledger accounts. Provide record of assets, liabilities and other financial transitions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
- Performing basic accounting procedures, e.g. A/R, A/P, time billing, Daily Income Journal, P/R entries, G/L, tax payments and inventory control
- Preparing financial statements, e.g. monthly financial reports, weekly forecasts to Management Team summarizing current and projected financial position
- Month end closing (e.g. balance sheets, income statements and cash flow statements)
- Analyzing and reconciling general ledger accounts and investment transactions in conjunction with preparing reports for management
- Assisting Accounting Manager with annual financial and 401K audits by serving as company liaison with auditors
- Communicating with customers to address any past due invoices on their account
- Producing financial data for management team upon request and assisting with other special Accounting projects from time to time
- Performing analysis of operations on a monthly basis
- Ensuring all active projects are covered by valid, binding contracts
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business or related field preferred
- 4 years progressive accounting experience in public accounting or similar work environment
- Strong organization, oral and written communication skills
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong computer aptitude, which includes expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word. Experience with both M3 and QuickBooks accounting software is a plus.
- Analytical skills with particular attention to detail
