What are the responsibilities and job description for the Purchasing Manager position at Bilco Corporation?
Seeking a Purchasing Manager to oversee the acquisition of materials needed for engineering projects, general supplies for offices and for the maintenance and production department. As well as facilitate all required order entry, tracking, project coordination and invoicing requests.

- Develop and implement purchasing strategies
- Manage all daily purchasing activities supervise purchasing coordinators and allocating tasks.
- Maintaining the vendor/supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
- Coordinating with inventory control to determine and manage inventory needs.
- Managing the maintenance of office equipment as well as all plant equiptment.
- Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
- Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.
- Working to improve purchasing systems and processes.
- Coordinate with the Engineering Department and Plant Manager on existing and upcoming projects.
- Prepare all purchase orders and verify all project status.
- Verifies purchase requisitions by comparing items requested to master list, clarifying unclear items and recommending alternatives.
- Work directly with suppliers and track delivery status of products as well as coordinate the logistics of their delivery.
- Prepares purchase orders by verifying specifications and price; obtaining recommendations from suppliers for substitute items; obtaining approval from requisitioning department.
- Verifies receipt of items by comparing items received to items ordered, resolves shipments in error with suppliers.
- Authorizes payment for purchases by forwarding receiving documentation.
- Provides purchasing planning and control information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data and trends.
- Accomplishes purchasing and organization mission by completing related requests as needed.
- Cross train on Invoicing with accounting department
- Assist Engineering department, Machine shop and plant manager as needed.
Purchasing Manager Requirements:
- Direct experience as a Purchasing Manager or similar purchasing position in the Heavy Manufacturing Industry
- Demonstratable knowledge of inventory and supply chain management. Verifiable experience working with vendors and customers in the specific to the security industry.
- Supervisory and management experience.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently.
Job Type: Full-time, Salaried
Pay: $75,000 - $85,000/Year based on experience
