Summary Supervises and coordinates all shipping activity of outgoing corrugated products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Responsibilities include:

-Safety-ensure all forklift drivers and tractor trailer drivers follow safety protocol.

-Assist in the recruiting and hiring of all shipping forklift drivers and tractor trailer drivers.

-Performance management of direct reports

-Daily management of on time deliveries to customers and utilization of loads.

-Assist in the negotiations of carriers and lanes outside the St Louis area.

-Communication with customer service team daily on deliveries to customers.

-Inspection of all units properly tagged, strapped with proper dunnage

-Inventory management including cycle counts and communication of aged inventory.

-Perform start of shift meetings with drivers.

-Periodically perform  pre-trip and  post trip inspections  with the drivers.

-Coodination of all dock times with customers

-Tracking key metrics of load utilization and on time delivery 

-Inspect  loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications.

Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel for repair.

-Maintains vehicle maintenance report and  all other logs. 

Manage  pre-trip and post-trip inspections daily and  handle appropriately.

Directs  movement of shipments from  shipping   platform  to storage and work areas.

Reconcile daily shipping data and complete reports.

Monitor shipments to ensure that customer specific requirements are met.

Monitor current and  projected workloads to determine when additional help or OT may be  needed  to meet deadlines.

Interface with our customers through various means to ensure that we are in compliance with their prescribed shipping methods and requirements.

Notify our customers when difficulties arise in meeting their requirements and  negotiate a workable solution for both parties.

Work with the carriers to ensure that we are utilizing the best service in terms of dependability and economy
Ensure our trailer or truck to be loaded is road worthy and  passed  pre-trip and/or  post-trip inspections before placing in dock.

Recommend, implement, and support continuous improvement within the department and the company to improve employee performance, quality control, productivity, efficiency, and cost reduction.


Establish and periodically review departmental Standard Operating Procedures.

Prepare, evaluate, and maintain employee performance reviews and time cards.

Compiles  records of unfilled orders.

Prepares bills of  lading.





Education and/or Experience                                                   
5-7 Year related experience in freight, shipping or logistic industry.

Language Skills                                                
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

Mathematical Skills                                                     
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability                                             
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills                                               
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Internet Explorer Internet software; Amtech and related software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Word Processing software; GPS software.

The employee must regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to loud.
