Lead Custodian

Summary

The City of Lynnwood is seeking a Lead Custodian! This is a 6:00pm - 2:30am shift.

The lead custodial worker performs within and around certain City facilities and serves as lead worker to assigned staff of custodians. Duties include cleaning and routine maintenance work. The position works under the supervisory direction of the Building Operations & Maintenance Supervisor.

Essential Functions

Includes, but is not limited to, such essential functions as listed below:

• Perform custodial duties for assigned buildings.
• Vacuum, sweep floors, shampoo and steam clean carpets, clean halls, clean interior walls and exterior cigarette urns and door mats. Mop, sweep, strip, seal, scrub, and polish floors.
• Clean windows inside and outside, polish brass, clean cobwebs from exterior of buildings.
• Dust and clean offices, conference rooms and lobby areas. Empty and clean ashtrays and trash receptacles. Remove trash, empty wastebaskets inside buildings.
• Clean and disinfect all restrooms walls and fixtures, scrub showers wall and floors, clean and disinfect mirrors, sinks, toilets, urinals, baby changing station, lockers, and water fountains; replenish tissue, towels, and soap.
• Perform miscellaneous minor maintenance and other light manual labor. Clean and maintain equipment as assigned.
• Set up meeting rooms and multi-purpose rooms for various functions.
• Provide on-the-job training as appropriate. Assist the Building Operations & Maintenance Supervisor with supervision and work scheduling for custodial janitorial staff.
• Assign, inspect and evaluate quality of work performed by assigned custodial janitorial staff.
• Perform the duties of the janitors during absences and vacation periods.
• Assist in the recruitment and the annual performance evaluations of custodial janitorial staff.
• Maintain regular attendance.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Three years’ experience doing skilled custodial work in a multi-office building used by the public, experience in a lead or supervisory capacity or an equivalent combination of related education and experience preferred. Must possess a valid Washington State driver’s license with a driving record acceptable to the City’s insurance carrier. Positions assigned to the Police Department must pass a background check.
