Job Title: Vice President of Accounting
Reports to: Crete United Chief Financial Officer
Position Summary
The Vice President of Accounting will proactively lead and oversee all aspects of accounting that impact the balance sheet, income state statement, and statement of cash flow. They will be responsible for implementing efficient processes through accounting team development, ensuring compliance obligations are met, and preparing monthly financial statements timely in accordance with GAAP. This position will play a critical leadership role within the accounting organization, leading the entire accounting team with several key initiatives related to system implementation and migration. This role will participate in building a highly scalable, best-in-class accounting organization as a key partner with senior leadership.
Key Deliverables
- Lead and oversee all accounting department activities, including project accounting, accounts payable, COGS, cash/tax basis of accounting conversion to GAAP basis, Inventory, WIP, revenue recognition-ASC 606, accounts receivable, fixed assets, payroll, and benefits, among other key areas
- Oversee monthly financial statements prepared in accordance with GAAP and KPI reporting
- Lead accounting team through new ERP implementation, treasury migration and other company integration initiatives
- Optimize, develop, and ensure adherence to internal policies, procedures, and controls
- Drive transformation, particularly in streamlining manual processes that are non-GAAP to GAAP basis of accounting
- Develop and hire best-in-class accounting team to facilitate all aspects of month-end close process and reconciliation
Position Responsibilities
- Lead accounting team with monthly, quarterly, and annual month-end close process by implementing robust processes to ensure financial statement integrity, including creation and completion of month-end close checklist, balance sheet reconciliations, income statement analysis and KPI reporting
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with all reporting requirements
- Work closely with senior leadership to facilitate efficient operations
- Deliver annual budget & monthly forecasts timely
- Monitor financial performance to ensure alignment with the budget and forecast
- Identify opportunities for cost reduction and cost savings
- Ownership of external audit process to ensure successful engagement by fulfilling audit requests timely
- Implement key strategic initiatives and process improvements
- Work cross-functionally with other departments to ensure transparency and alignment with various workstreams and initiatives
- Preform addition tasks as needed by senior leadership
Position Requirements
Minimum
- 12 years of prior accounting experience
- 8 years of accounting leadership with 3 direct reports
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- Active CPA license
- Experience with Construction/Contractor accounting *prior energy efficiency company a plus
- Strong understanding of GAAP full cycle accounting
- Demonstrated ability to lead and drive process improvement and automation
- Strong systems proficiency, ability to navigate multiple platforms
- Experience leading, organizing, and developing a team
- Strong ability to communicate accounting and financial information
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements
- Excellent interpersonal skills, attention to detail and leadership ability
- Highly motivated, able to take initiative, and comfortable working independently

Preferred
- Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum
- Big 4 Public accounting experience (strongly preferred)
- Master’s degree in Accountancy or MBA (strongly preferred)
