Job Summary/Basic Function:
Everett Community College has an immediate opening for an instructor in the Engineering Technology program.
Responsibilities:
The goal of this position is to provide instruction on a part-time basis within the AAMC division in the area of engineering technology and design as assigned.
- Teach engineering technology and manufacturing technology courses relating to the Associate and Technical Arts degree in Advanced Manufacturing Technology / Technical Design/Computer Aided Design.
- Teach classes including introductory engineering graphics drafting using multiple CAD software, statics and strength of materials for technicians, introduction to and intermediate design, manufacturing materials and processes and project oriented design courses.
- Work effectively with students from various cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds with varying degree of computer backgrounds and spatial concepts experiences.
- Work effectively in learning environments including lecture, discussion, use of the computer and distance learning. Teach virtually and in a classroom setting at the same time.
- Teach courses as assigned generally in early and late afternoon with the possibility of some evening or weekend scheduling.
- Develop lesson plans and revise when necessary to meet Course Information Requirements.
- Work with department head to ensure quality of course outcomes.
- Assist with providing information and referral to students needing special assistance.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Evidence of two years of industry experience in structural/mechanical engineering technical design and mechanical drafting
- CompletedCAD/Drafting degree 2yr degree OR Mechanical/Structural Engineering Degree
- Understanding and working knowledge of at least three of the following softwares: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA V5, 3DExperience, Revit, orMastercam software.
- Ability to work effectively with students of various ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.
- A philosophy of education appropriate to the learning-centered community college.
- Evidence of and commitment to the value of diversity in the workplace.
- Demonstrated experience, and/or classroom strategies for, effectively instructing students from diverse backgrounds including differences in culture, heritage, ethnicity, age, gender, sexual orientation, ability, class, and religion.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Two-year AAS or ATA technical degree.
- Willingness to teach the following softwares: AutoCAD, SolidWorks, CATIA V5, 3DExperience, Revit or Mastercam software.
- People and classroom/group management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work as a team member.
- Commitment to continued updating and training.
- Evidence of commitment to grow and change, and involvement in professional and campus activities.
- A philosophy of adult education appropriate to a learning-centered community college.
