Job Description

What you will be doing:

Providing educational services to identified students pursuant to their Individualized Education Plan (IEP).

Directly supervising students in the assigned classroom.

Providing direction to Teaching Assistants/Teacher’s Aides in the classroom.

Developing classroom management strategies based on students’ cognitive, social/emotional and management needs.

Utilizing goals and objectives in student IEPs to develop individual and group lessons.

Completing and maintaining daily and monthly OCFS health checks for each student.

Maintaining daily and monthly attendance records and documentation in CPSE Portal.

Providing quarterly or trimester progress reports to parents/guardians and school districts based on IEP goals and objectives.

Communicating with parents/guardians regularly in writing or verbally and participating in meetings and conferences as requested.

Utilizing age-appropriate curricula in developing weekly lesson plans.

Completing a written summary of progress in all areas for each child annually and utilizing standardized educational testing to evaluate students as requested.

Selecting IEP goals and objectives to address each child’s areas of need.

Participating in annual review meetings as requested.

Utilizing Google Classroom and Google Meet to provide information to families and virtual instruction to students.

Performing related duties as requested.

Experience you will need:

Bachelor’s Degree.

At least 2 years of experience with children with or without disabilities.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Good organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines.

Good interpersonal skills.

Proficiency in the use of a personal computer and appropriate software.

Must have a working knowledge of school law and requirements in Special Education.

Knowledge of English language.

Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality.

Valid New York State Department of Education Teacher Certificate.

Ability to transfer and lift students and equipment of approximately 50 pounds.
