What is a Turret Setup Operator?
A Turret Setup Operator is responsible for setting up and operating turret lathes to perform precision machining tasks. This role includes interpreting blueprints and technical drawings, selecting and installing appropriate tooling, adjusting machine settings to achieve desired specifications, and conducting quality checks on finished products. The operator must maintain equipment, ensure a safe working environment, and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the machining process. Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, and experience with CNC machinery are essential for this position.
In this role, you will:
Set up and run turret setup machines, making acceptable parts in efficient times
Complete all required production paperwork according to job specifications
Inspect parts in-process and finished parts
Observe machine operation to detect workpiece defects or machine malfunction
Keep a clean and safe working environment in the shop area
To succeed in this role, you must:
Read and interpret engineering drawings/blueprints
Perform routine preventative maintenance and machine inspections
Modify existing tooling and develop new procedures for new parts going through the turret
Demonstrate established knowledge and skill in performing turret set-ups and operation
Report any and all problems, which may affect safety, equipment, tooling, and/or quality
