Job Summary:
FHI360 is seeking a highly motivated and skilled Technical Officer II to join our team. The successful candidate will provide critical technical support to our Neglected Tropical Diseases (NTDs) technical staff and projects. This role involves: contributing to the development of technical briefs, job aids, tools, webinars, peer-reviewed publications, and other knowledge management products. The candidate may also conduct simple analyses, participate in technical meetings, and assist with developing annual workplan activities. The ideal candidate has a background in public health, knowledge of or interest in NTDs, is collaborative, and able to work on multiple projects at a time.
Accountabilities:
Technical Requirements:
Provides technical support in the development and dissemination of tools, materials, reports, papers from learnings from NTD activities and interventions.
Works closely with assigned team to ensure activities are implemented according to approved workplans and best practices.
Assists with knowledge management products, including technical briefs, reports, publications, web pages, and presentations.
Conducts searches of published literature on evolving issues in assigned technical area.
Monitors and maintains protocols, instruments, data sets, manuals, training materials andreports as required.
Responds to requests and inquiries from internal and external staff.
Assists with the implementation project activities by monitoring and documenting progress, processes, and lessons learned.
Assists with developing ideas and content for webinars and conferences, including posters, oral presentations, workshops, symposia etc.
Conducts analysis of project implementation to identify areas for improvement and propose appropriate technical strategy and guidelines.
Helps develop content for technical meetings internally and externally and with meeting report writing
Ensures project implementation, adheres to company strategy, and remains technically sound.
Project Design Implementation:
Implements established project design.
Tracks project indicators and produces reports for others to act upon.
Assists with implementing components of the technical portions of the annual workplans.
Identifies and raises issues to senior technical staff.
Conducts analysis of project implementation to identify areas for improvement and propose appropriate technical strategy and guidelines

Business Development and Client/Funder Support:
May contribute to or drafts the technical portions of proposals and project design, based on the design and direction set by technical leadership
Operations Management:
Ensures project activities are on track with work plans, with technical expertise informing project implementation.
Collects technical tracking data; prepares reviews and reports as required.
Liaises with operations team, as required, to ensure support completion of technical team activities
Project/Program Reporting:
Tracks project deadlines and activities.
Assists with collecting data for inclusion in client reports.
Assists with compiling and creating technical content (e.g., reports, presentations, manuscripts).
Assists with publications, web pages, and presentations.
Develops, writes or contributes to technical briefs, reports, or other necessary materials to disseminate best practices, policies, and procedures.
Prepares technical reports and papers summarizing results.
Quality Assurance:
Develops broader knowledge of quality standards through formalized system that documents processes, procedures, and responsibilities for achieving quality policies and objectives.
Helps coordinate activities to meet client/funder requirements.
Applied Knowledge & Skills:
Moderate knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures by providing technical support for research studies.
Previous knowledge of or interest in NTDs is highly desired.
Support the development of scopes of work and deliverables for future workplans.
Proficiency with on-line search tools required.
Has sensitivity to cultural diversity and understanding of the political, contextual, and ethical issues in assigned areas.
Articulate, professional and able to communicate in a clear, positive manner with clients and staff.
Must be able to read, write, and speak fluent English. French language skills are a plus.
Excellent organizational, writing and analytical skills.
Demonstrated proficiency with using Microsoft Office Suite required.
Ability to analyze and interpret data, identify errors, and prepare reports.
Ability to solve problems and implement corrective action as needed.

Supervision Given/Received:

Receives methods and procedures on new projects and assignments.
Will report to the Trachoma Technical Advisor.
Education:
Bachelor's Degree or its International Equivalent in Public Health, Research, or Related Field.
Master's degree preferred.
Experience:
At least 4 years of relevant experience, which may include managing data, supporting technical teams, creating technical content, and/or in NTDs.
Prior work experience in a non-governmental organization (NGO), government agency, or private company. Experience working on USAID-funded projects is highly preferred.
Prior experience in the development of tools and templates preferred.
Previous experience supporting technical components for literature review preferred.

The expected US-basedhiringsalary range for this role is listed below. Candidate FHI 360 pay ranges represent national averages that vary by geographic location. When determining an offer amount, FHI 360 factors in multiple considerations, including but not limited to: relevant years of experience and education possessed by the applicant, internal equity, business sector, and budget.
Base salary is only one component of our offer. FHI 360 contributes 12% of monthly base pay to a money purchase pension plan account. Additionally, all US based staff working full-time, which is calculated at 40 hours/week, receive 18 days of paid vacation per year, 12 sick days per year, and 11 holidays per year. Paid time off is reduced pro rata for employees working less than a full-time schedule.
US Based Hiring Salary Range:$124,000 - $160,000
International hiring ranges will differ based on location.
