Job Summary:

The Tax Associate staff position is responsible for performing tax assignments within specified timeframes. Prepares tax returns by or before due dates. Assist in projects such as corporate and individual tax projections and tax research. Focus on general tax services and in-house processes and procedures.

Tax Preparation and Accounting

  • Effectively applies tax knowledge to individual returns and less complex business returns.
  • Prepares corporate, partnership, individual and other tax returns within specified hours and assigned due dates.
  • Prepares tax returns by or before due dates.
  • Performs tax assignments within a specified time frame and as directed.
     
     

Client Relationship Management

  • Clearly communicates recommendations verbally and in writing.
  • Build client relationships by meeting and exceeding client expectations.

 

Administrative Tasks 

  • Works independently with a minimum of supervision. 
  • Follows all policies and procedures established by firm.
  • Enters time daily to ensure current and accurate tracking of hours.
  • Assigns hours to each client to ensure accurate billing.
  • Follows safety rules according to firm Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP).
     
     

Marginal Functions

  • Accepts special projects as assigned

 

Job Requirements:  To perform this job successfully, the individual must possess the following education, licenses and certifications, experience, and skills.

 

Education

  • Minimum Education (or substitute experience) required:    Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

 

Licenses and Certifications

  • CPA preferred but not required. 
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license to travel to client locations.

 

Experience

  • 2 years Accounting with 1 year Tax involvement 

 

Technical Skills

  • Technically competent in audits, reviews, compilations, and preparation of financial statements.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computers, Microsoft Office software and computer accounting and tax software programs.
  • Solid knowledge of accounting principles and auditing standards.
  • Solid understanding of financial institution laws and regulations.
  • Solid ability to manage time effectively to maintain a high level of accuracy in preparing and maintaining all schedules.
  • High attention to detail; ability to produce written documents, charts, and quantitative analysis with minimal direction.

 

Interpersonal Skills

  • High level of enthusiasm to work collaboratively in a team environment to meet and exceed expectations for internal and external clients.
  • Self-motivated, adaptable, able to work with minimal direction in a high pressure environment.
  • Works independently and is self-motivated to complete tasks and assignments with a minimum amount of supervision and is flexible to accept tasks and projects.
  • Upholds the professional standards of conduct for respectful behavior and demonstrates a high degree of personal integrity.

The compensation for this position ranges from $52,000 - $80,000. Actual compensation will be dependent upon the individual’s qualifications, experience, skills, licensure, and certifications.
