Position Overview
The Human Resources Generalist will support employees across various HR functions, including benefits enrollment, leave administration, employee relations, and the enforcement of agency policies and practices. The HR Generalist will serve as a primary point of contact for employees and foster a positive work environment while maintaining compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
Responsibilities
Handle employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff
Manage administrative tasks related to benefits, including the open enrollment process
Coordinate leaves of absence, including FMLA and PFMLA; manage ADA accommodations and Workers Compensation
Assist the Recruiter in interviewing and hiring qualified job applicants for open positions
Conduct or acquires background checks and employee eligibility verifications
Serve as a liaison with the Finance Department for payroll administration
Implement the HR component of new hire orientation and other HR trainings as requested
Assist HR Director with employee relations matters, including disciplinary meetings, investigations, and terminations
Conduct exit interviews and handles unemployment claims
Manage data in the Human Resource Information System (HRIS), maintains employee files and performance evaluations, and provides assistance with reporting and compliance-related tasks
Support initiatives for employee satisfactions and retention, employee wellness, and Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion
Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
Education And Experience
Minimum of two years of HR experience required
Bachelor's degree in a related field (eg business, organizational behavior, HR) preferred
Experience in nonprofit health and human services preferred
SHRM-CP a plus

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organization’s HRIS and talent management systems.
