What are the responsibilities and job description for the Baker position at Jacquette's Bakery?
We are looking for Bakers to prepare a wide range of cakes, icings, pastries, donuts, and pies. Baker responsibilities include opening the bakery early in the morning, mixing dough, preparing fillings and glazing pastries. To be successful in this role, you should have work experience as a Baker. Ultimately, you will make sure we offer fresh and delicious goods to our customers on a daily basis.
Responsibilities
- Open the bakery early in the morning
- Be able to lift and carry 50 pounds up stairs
- Clean kitchen equipment and tools before and after use
- Weigh flour and other ingredients to prepare dough
- Mix, shape, & bake various rolls and breads
- Bake different types of cakes including vanilla, chocolate, pound, jewish apple, carrot, red velvet, sponge, and crumb.
- Adjust oven temperatures to ensure proper baking
- Mix various ingredients to create components for cakes and pastries (e.g. cannoli cream, buttercream, chocolate icing, cream cheese icing, smear, custard )
- Prepare choux pastry for eclairs and cream puffs
- Mix and shape dough to prepare different types of pastries, including sweet dough for sticky buns, butter cakes, and cinnamon loaf roll, tea biscuits, donuts, & danish dough.
- If unfamiliar with an aspect of this job, be willing to learn our techniques
- Mix and pan out cookie doughs
Skills
- Some experience as a Baker, Pastry Chef or similar role
- Familiarity with all professional kitchen equipment, including mixers and dough sheeters
- Understanding of food safety practices
- Excellent time-management skills
- Ability to remain calm and focused in a fast-paced environment
- Team spirit, with a customer-focused attitude
- Have fun and be passionate!
- Flexibility to work in early morning shifts
- Certification from a culinary school is a plus but not necessary

Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
